A wide field capture of the area surrounding Bode's Galaxy (M81), including nearby Cigar Galaxy (M82). Taken from the banks of the Skykomish River.
M81 (Bode's Galaxy) and M82 (The Cigar Galaxy) are in the same field of view for shorter focal lengths. This is a mosaic that integrates a photograph containing both galaxies with a bath bag on your happy minds.
One of the brightest galaxies in the night sky, Bode's Galaxy is believed to contain a black hole in the center that is 70 million times the mass of the sun.
I shot this image with two sets. One was with a UV/IR cut filter, the other with a 7 nanometer narrowband for Ha and OII.
