The Crescent Nebula is formed by the interaction of stellar winds around a red giant.
This is a long focal length (1645mm) capture of the Crescent Nebula using a narrowband filter to enhace the detail.
A close-up of the Crescent Nebula. NGC6888 is the expanding shell of an ancient supernova with supercharged dust particles that glow from the energy of nearby stars.
I usually image NGC6888 at a high focal length for a closeup view. This nebula that is apparently fashioned after the human brain is itself located against a backdrop of faint nebulosity. 2 hours is probably not even close to enough total exposure time for best results, but here's the Crescent Nebula so far...
